In the past couple of years I began drawing and developing my range of art prints and home decor collections inspired by Scotland from animals, architecture and history. My favourite style of drawing is pen, ink and charcoal. I love combining detailed drawings with graphical elements or vintage colours, but find black and white striking in itself.
I've always loved art and studied Graphic Design and illustration at Dundee College and graduated with a Higher National Diploma with merits. In my final year of college I got my dream work placement with St Andrews Museum, riding around Fife on my motorbike, sourcing and sketching Pictish Stones in location. I went on to exhibit my Pictish drawings at the Laing Museum in Newburgh and also had my drawings published in The Scots Magazine and Fife Council Leaflets, see link.
Soon after graduating I started my Graphic Design career with a Design Agency in Fife, where I was employed for several years. In that time I moved to Edinburgh and set up my own business as a self-employed graphic designer. I've been working as a professional graphic designer for nearly 20 years with clients all over the world.
My passion is drawing Scottish symbols and icons as well as nautical or architecture. Our home is full of antiques from Jacobean furniture to ships wheels, anchors, old Edinburgh prints and books that have been collected by my fiancé over the years. We live in a 17th century tenement building on the Royal Mile surrounded by history which is a great source of inspiration.
